An Introduction

My name is Emily Schmutz. I am a die-hard Harry Potter fan who loves good literature, good music, good food and good stuff. “If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.”-Joseph Smith

I like to write; I create Internet ads for a living and my goal is to expand my writing horizons, because words mean something.

Before I loved Harry Potter, I loved Shakespeare. My parents took my sister and me, every summer to the Utah Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City. We would see 6 plays in 3 days – it was magic. I don’t generally think of myself as one who comes quickly to tears, but give me King Henry’s “St. Crispin’s” speech or Portia’s “Quality of Mercy” speech, and the waterworks flow.

My mom always judges musicals on how catchy the tunes are. If it is something you are singing to yourself afterwards, then something worked. I believe the same principle applies to plays. Shakespeare wrote his plays in the 15 & 1600s. Now, 400 years later, his works are the second most quoted bits of literature (the first would be the Bible).

President Dieter F. Uchtorf said, “a desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.” It is my goal to write more, read more and memorize the best bits a bit more. I shall be sharing things here from time to time. Feel free to comment, share or sit a spell. Farewell for now, “good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow,
that I shall say good night till it be morrow.” -Romeo & Juliet, William Shakespeare
